Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham Noon Rotary Club proudly announces the formation of a new satellite club in Effingham, The Good Spirits of Illinois Satellite Club.
A satellite club is managed in collaboration with its host club, but maintains its own meeting schedule, bylaws, projects and board of directors. Many want the Rotary club experience but prefer a different meeting format than what is available with existing Rotary clubs.
Andrew Koester, past Noon Rotary Club President and an attorney with Taylor Law Offices, will serve as the Good Spirits Club’s first President.
“I couldn’t be more excited to have another Rotary club in Effingham. Rotary is such an important organization both worldwide and in our local communities, and we need to make sure it has staying power through the generations to come. This is our effort to adapt to the preferences and needs of younger people so we can include bright, motivated members of all ages,” Koester noted.
The idea for developing the satellite club came from Mike Kirchhoff, current Noon Rotary President and a Key Account Executive at Ameren Illinois, and enthusiastically supported by the Noon Rotary Club membership.
Kirchhoff said, “I’m thrilled that we’ve seen such a high degree of interest in our new satellite club! Andrew has really done an amazing job in pulling everything together very quickly. We were all inspired by Rotary District 6060 President Ralph Zuke, who spoke with our club recently about his success with creating satellite clubs in St. Louis. The fun activities and meaningful impact he described was something we wanted to bring to our community.”
The Good Spirits Club is the 14th Rotary club sponsored by Effingham Noon Rotary Club in its 105 year history. Other clubs that have been created through the support of Noon Rotary, in order of creation: Centralia, Mattoon, Flora, Shelbyville, Olney, Robinson, Casey, Newton, Vandalia, Salem, Oblong, Charleston and Effingham Sunrise.
Mr. John Calderon, Rotary District 6490 Governor, was instrumental in assisting the new club formation. He sent a message of congratulations, noting the importance of bringing new ideas and opportunities to expand the Service Above Self projects that support people in need around our communities and the world.
A Charter Night to officially welcome the new Rotary satellite club is being planned.
