Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Construction always seems to be ongoing somewhere in Effingham County, and this spring is no different. The Fayette Avenue Reconstruction Project is ongoing, which has reduced the route to one lane in each direction in spots. Construction on the much maligned stretch of I-70 east of Effingham will begin on April 9th. This time, however, many more safety features and devices will be utilized to try to prevent the excess of accidents we saw last year.
IDOT Project Engineer Tim Hemmen gave details on what safety features we can expect to see.
He also gave some updates on the Fayette Avenue Reconstruction Project, and what motorists can expect in the coming weeks.
Tim also mentioned that the Henrietta Street closure at Fayette Avenue should be opened back up by April 2nd, with construction on westbound lanes to follow.
I also asked Tim what other construction projects are going on in the Effingham area.
We thank Tim Hemmen for taking the time to explain what motorists can look forward to with upcoming construction projects, as well as the upcoming changes with the Fayette Avenue Reconstruction Project. As always, IDOT, ISP, and local police remind motorists to please obey posted signs in the work zones, be alert for workers in the construction zones, and stay off your mobile devices.
