Effingham County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12:
WHAT:
- Single Vehicle Multiple Injury Traffic Crash
WHERE:
- 200th Avenue 1/10th mile east of 2200th Street, Lucas Township
WHEN:
- April 21, 2022 at approximately 10:45 p.m.
VEHICLE:
Unit 1– 2004 Black Toyota
DRIVER:
- Unit 1- Jozlyn M. Haycraft, 17, of Dieterich – Taken to Cardinal Glennon in St. Louis with incapacitating injuries
PASSENGERS:
- Unit 1- Emma R. Meinhart, 18, of Dieterich – Refused medical treatment
- Unit 1- Jaden A. Pruemer, 18, of Dieterich – Refused medical treatment
PRELIMINARY:
- A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling east on 200th avenue at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. Unit 1 went off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, and went off the left side of the roadway. Unit 1 struck the ditch and overturned several times. Driver of Unit 1 was ejected during the crash.
CHARGES:
- Unit 1 driver was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to wear a seatbelt.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
