ISP Traffic Crash In Jasper County

Jasper County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12:

WHAT:                      

• Single Vehicle Personal Injury Traffic Crash

WHERE: 

• North 600^th Street at East 1900^th Avenue, Jasper County

WHEN:

• April 14, 2022 at approximately 11:00 p.m.

VEHICLE:

• Unit 1- 2007 White GMC Truck

DRIVER:                  

• Unit 1 – Geoffery A. McGahey, a 43-year-old male from Mattoon, IL – Flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries.

PRELIMINARY:      

• A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling south on North 600^th Street at East 1900^th Avenue, Jasper County. For an unknown reason, Unit 1 left the roadway to the left and overturned. The driver of Unit 1 was flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries.

CHARGES:

• The driver of Unit 1 was cited for Driving Under the Influence, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Driver Required to Wear Seatbelt, and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
