Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham Plan Commission held a regular meeting on Tuesday to discuss numerous petitions for special use permits and rezoning.
The first discussion item was about the Grunloh Construction project, which was approved. Also heard was a special use permit for Ginger Ales to move in at 302 South Walnut Street west of the Fayette underpass, which was also approved to be heard by the City Council for final vote.
Petition for a special use permit for Menards, Inc. was also heard. Menards is looking to expand their facility, which means the radio tower behind the store will need to be moved. a plot of land was chosen, which is right next to Harley Davidson. Michael Tappendorf, a representative of Menards, Inc., spoke in favor of the petition, while Paul Gutman of Harley Davidson expressed concern over the petition, citing the guidewires could become an issue if they’re too close to his business. Greg Sapp also weighed in on the issue with what he knew, as the radio tower is the transmitter tower for WKJT. The petition was approved to be heard by the City Council.

- Effingham Pelvic Health & Wellness applying for adjacent building for residential and business purposes – Approved, will be heard by City Council
