ISP Traffic Crash In Effingham County

Effingham County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12:

WHAT:                      

• Single Vehicle Personal Injury Traffic Crash

WHERE: 

• US 40 at 1075 E Road, Effingham County

WHEN:

• April 10, 2022 at approximately 6:20 p.m.

VEHICLES:

• Unit 1 – 2004 Black Victory RS Motorcycle

DRIVERS:                 

• Unit 1- Richard S. Newlin, 43-year-old male from Edgewood, IL – Transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

PRELIMINARY:      

• A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on US 40 near Effingham County Road 1075 East. For unknown reasons, Unit 1 driver left the roadway to the left and crashed into a ditch off the roadway.  The driver of Unit 1 was transported to an area  hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

CHARGES:

• Unit 1 driver was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash, Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Secure Registration, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Improper Use of Registration/Title, and Driver’s License Classification Violation.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
