ISP Fatal Traffic Crash

Shelby County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by the Illinois State Police District 10:

WHAT:

• Vehicle vs Commercial Motor Vehicle Fatal Traffic Crash

WHERE:

• Intersection of IL Rt. 128 and 2100 North Road, near Findlay, Shelby County

WHEN:

• March 2, 2022 at approximately 1:23 p.m.

DRIVERS:                 

• Unit 1 – Matthew W. Mau, a 38-year-old-male of Chatham, IL – Fatally Injured
• Unit 2 – Louis M. Hankins, a 59-year-old-male of Shumway, IL

VEHICLES:

• Unit 1 – Silver 2020 Nissan Van
• Unit 2 – Blue 2015 International Truck Tractor with a semi-trailer.       

PASSENGER:           

• Unit 1 – Morgan R. Wickham, a 26-year-old-male of Springfield, IL – Fatally Injured          

PRELIMINARY:      

• Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred:  Unit 1 was traveling west on 2100 North Road approaching the intersection of IL Rt. 128, near Findlay, Shelby County.  Unit 2 was southbound on IL Rt. 128, the through street.  Unit 1 failed to stop at the stop intersection and struck the driver’s side of Unit 2.  The driver and passenger of Unit 1 were fatally injured.  The driver of Unit 2 was not injured.  This is an open and on-going investigation and no other details are available at this time.
