
Fayette County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12:
WHAT:
- Two Vehicle Personal Injury Traffic Crash
WHERE:
- Interstate 70 westbound near milepost 67, Fayette County
WHEN:
- Jan. 27, 2022 at approximately 8:50 a.m.
VEHICLES:
- Unit 1– 2013 Blue Hyundai Sonata
- Unit 2- 2005 Black Western Star Truck-Tractor Semi-Trailer Combination
DRIVERS:
- Unit 1- James Minder, 53-year-old male from Westfield, IN – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
- Unit 2- Jon Lewis, 62-year-old male from Effingham, IL
PASSENGER:
- Unit 2- Diana Constantino – Minder, 51-year-old female from Westfield, IN – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
PRELIMINARY:
- A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Both Unit 1 and Unit 2 were traveling west on Interstate 70 near milepost 67 in Fayette County. The driver of Unit 1 lost control while attempting to pass Unit 2. Unit 1 struck guardrail on the right and left before coming to rest in the left lane. The roadway was snow covered at the time of the accident. Both the driver and passenger of Unit 1 were transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Unit 2 driver reported no injuries on scene.
CHARGES:
- Unit 1 driver was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
