ISP Traffic Crash With Injury

Fayette County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12:

WHAT:                      

• Single Vehicle Personal Injury Traffic Crash

WHERE: 

• Interstate 70 eastbound near milepost 54, Fayette County

WHEN:

• Jan. 8, 2022 at approximately 12:19 a.m.

VEHICLE:

• Unit 1– 2018 Gray Jeep Compass

DRIVER:                   

• Unit 1- Christopher Boyd, 29-year-old male from Saint Louis, MO – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

PRELIMINARY:     

• A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling east on Interstate 70 near milepost 54 in Fayette County. The driver of Unit 1 ran off the roadway to the right and struck the end of a guardrail. Unit 1 then travelled down an embankment and came to rest. Unit 1 driver was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

CHARGES:

• Unit 1 driver was cited for Driving While Under the Influence of Drugs/Alcohol, Driving While License Suspended, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol by Driver, Improper Lane Usage and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
