WHAT:
- Single Vehicle Traffic Crash with Injuries
WHERE:
- Interstate 57 southbound near Milepost 168, Effingham County
WHEN:
- Dec. 18, 2021 at approximately 10:49 a.m.
VEHICLE:
- Unit 1 – White 2016 Ford Escape
DRIVER:
- Unit 1 – Mark Cole, a 63-year-old male Champaign, IL – Refused medical attention.
PASSENGER:
- Unit 1 – Joan M. Cole, a 56-year-old female from Champaign, IL – Transported to an area hospital with injuries.
PRELIMINARY:
- Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was southbound on Interstate 57 at Milepost 168. Unit 1 lost control and left the roadway to the right. Unit 1 struck several trees. The driver of Unit 1 refused medical attention. The passenger of Unit 1 was transported to an area hospital with injuries. No further information will be disseminated at this time.
