Iroquois County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by the Illinois State Police District 21:
WHAT:
- Three Unit Fatal Traffic Crash
WHERE:
- Illinois Route 49 at 1400N Road, Iroquois County
WHEN:
- Dec. 13, 2021 at approximately 2:00 p.m.
VEHICLE:
- Unit 1 – 2021 Red Toyota Sienna
- Unit 2 – 2015 White Peterbilt Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer
- Unit 3 – 2009 White Ford F150
DRIVER:
- Unit 1 – Edna R. Cluver, 72-year-old female of Cissna Park, IL
- Unit 2 – Kevin J. Gray, 59-year-old male from Gilman, IL
- Unit 3 – Kris E. Edburg, 36-year-old male from Paxton, IL
PRELIMINARY:
- Preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling westbound on 1400N Road and stopped at the intersection of Illinois 49. Unit 2 was traveling southbound on Illinois 49. Unit 1 failed to yield the right of way and pulled out in front of Unit 2. Unit 2 struck Unit 1. Unit 1 went off the roadway into the west ditch. The collision with Unit 1 caused Unit 2 to enter the northbound lane of Illinois 49. Unit 2 struck Unit 3 head on causing both Unit 2 and Unit 3 to run off the roadway into the east ditch. Unit 3 caught fire and the driver was trapped inside the vehicle. The driver of Unit 3 was pronounced deceased on scene.

The public is reminded all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
