WHAT:
- Single Vehicle Traffic Crash with Injuries
WHERE:
- Interstate 57 southbound at mile post 131, near Farina, IL, Marion County.
WHEN:
- May 15, 2021 at 7:28 a.m.
VEHICLE:
- Unit 1 – 2017 Black Chevrolet Equinox
DRIVER:
- Unit 1 – Lakeisha S. Whitaker, a 40-year-old female from Maywood, IL –Transported via ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
PASSENGERS:
- Unit 1 – 14-year-old female juvenile, 8-year-old female juvenile, and 3-months-old female juvenile, all from Maywood, IL –Transported via ambulance to an area hospital with minor injuries
PRELIMINARY:
- Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling southbound on Interstate 57 at mile post 131 near Farina, in Marion County. Unit 1 swerved to avoid a large piece of tire debris in the roadway. Unit 1 struck the left ditch and came to rest in the center median. The driver of Unit 1 was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The juvenile passengers of Unit 1 were transported by ambulance to an area hospital with minor injuries. No further information will be disseminated at this time.
