Champaign County, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 10:
WHAT:
- Two Unit Fatal Traffic Crash
WHERE:
- Route 45 at Leverett Road, Champaign County
WHEN:
- May 6, 2021 at approximately 2:15 p.m.
VEHICLES:
- Unit 1- 2020 White Toyota Sedan
- Unit 2- 2019 Black Chevrolet Truck
DRIVERS:
- Unit 1- 81-year-old male – Deceased (Pending notification of next of kin).
- Unit 2- Mark Holt, 62-year-old male from Rantoul, IL – Transported by ambulance to a regional hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
PRELIMINARY:
- Preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling east on Leverett Road and stopped at the stop sign with Route 45 in Champaign County. Unit 2 was traveling south on Route 45 approaching the intersection with Leverett Road. The driver of Unit 1 pulled out in front of Unit 2. Unit 2 struck Unit 1 in the driver side. The driver of Unit 1 was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of Unit 2 was transported to a regional hospital with non-life threatening injuries. This crash is still under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
