WHAT:
- Two Vehicle Traffic Crash with Injury
WHERE:
- Interstate 57 southbound at Milepost 144.5, Edgewood, Effingham County.
WHEN:
- Jan. 27, 2021 at 8:50 P.M.
VEHICLES:
- Unit 1 – Silver 2007 Nissan Titan
- Unit 2 – White 2020 Volvo Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer
DRIVERS:
- Unit 1 – Ahmad Abbas Abboud, a 41-year-old male from Arlington, TX – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
- Unit 2 – Dontez D. McQuiter, a 44-year-old male from Detroit, MI – Refused medical attention.
PRELIMINARY:
- Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling southbound in the right lane of Interstate 57 southbound. Unit 2 was traveling alongside Unit 1 in the left lane. The driver of Unit 1 lost control after encountering icy road conditions and crossed over into the left lane of Interstate 57 southbound. Unit 1 struck the front passenger side of Unit 2. The driver of Unit 1 was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of Unit 2 refused medical attention. No further information will be disseminated at this time.
CHARGES:
- The driver of Unit 1 was cited for Improper Lane Use.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
