Champaign County, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 10:
WHAT:
- Personal Injury Traffic Crash
WHERE:
- Illinois 49 at Homer Lake Road (Champaign County)
WHEN:
- Thursday, August 6, 2020, 2:24 p.m.
VEHICLE:
- Unit 1: 2012 Blue Chrysler Van
- Unit 2: 2016 Black Jeep
- Unit 3: 2010 White Mack Truck Tractor Semi Trailer Combination
DRIVER:
- Unit 1: Cory Kalber, 35-year-old male of Effingham, IL (Transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries)
- Unit 2: Steven Cary, 59-year-old male of Bridgeport, IL
- Unit 3: David Perry, 73-year-old male of Homer, IL (Transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries)
PRELIMINARY:
- Preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1was traveling northbound on Illinois Route 49 just north of Homer Lake Road in Champaign County. Unit 2 was traveling southbound on Illinois Route 49. Unit 3 was following directly behind Unit 2 in the southbound lane. Unit 1 left the northbound lane and drifted into the southbound lane, side-swiping Unit 2 in the opposite direction. Unit 1 continued to travel in the southbound lanes where it struck the front passenger side of Unit 3. All lanes were shut down for a little over an hour during the traffic crash investigation; all lanes reopened at 3:38 p.m.
CHARGES:
- Unit 1 driver was issued a citation for Improper Lane Usage,
The public is reminded all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
