Effingham, Il – Effingham Knights of Columbus Council #665 will again be awarding up to eight (8) $500 scholarships this year.
Applications will be sent to area high schools in February – St. Anthony, Effingham, Altamont, Teutopolis, Dieterich, Stewardson-Strasburg, Beecher City and Newton.
For the students who do not attend these schools, the application is available on the Council’s website at www.effinghamkc.com in February or contact Chairman Phil Koerner at philk@koernerdistributor.com.
The eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Any son or daughter of a member in good standing, or of a deceased member, or a member of Effingham Council 665, or a member of St. Nicholas Squires Circle 5651 is eligible for this scholarship.
- The student must be a current graduating senior.
- The student must not have any serious disciplinary infractions, suspensions, or attendance problems.
- The student must be academically eligible.
A scholarship applicant must submit the application form which includes certification from the school principal or counselor of grade point average and no disciplinary issues.
The applicant shall also provide a list of all school, church and volunteer activities and a 450 to 500 word essay.
Applications are due the 2nd Friday in March.
