- 40 year old, James W Bowlin Jr, of Altamont was arrested by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department on a US Marshals warrant for amphetamine.
January 1, 2018
- 51 year old, William H Herr, of Effingham was arrested by the Effingham Police Department for driving while under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. Herr posted $100 and a driver’s license.
- 25 year old, Brock W Stortzum, of Effingham was arrested by the Effingham Police Department for disorderly conduct. Stortzum posted $150.
- 49 year old, Steven R Perryman, of Martinsville, Indiana was arrested by the Altamont Police Department for possession of a controlled substance.

- At 2:24pm at the intersection of Market and 2nd, a vehicle driven by 74 year old, Shirley M Moon, of Effingham struck a vehicle driven by 57 year old, Diane F Westendorf, of Effingham. No injuries or citations were reported.
December 30, 2017
- At 2:11pm at the intersection of Banker and Wabash, a vehicle driven by 33 year old, Neal L Durham, of Louisville rear-ended a vehicle driven by 20 year old, Alexandria H Bridges, of Gays. No injuries were reported. Durham was ticketed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
December 31, 2017
- At 9:30am at 1204 Avenue of Mid America, an unknown vehicle struck a parked vehicle owned by PV Holding Corporation, of Virginia Beach, Virginia. No injuries or citations were reported at this time.
- At 12:40pm at 1714 S Banker, a vehicle driven by 66 year old, Brian B Poelker, of Effingham failed to disengaged thw vehicle and put in neutral while inside the car wash bay, resulting in Poelker’s vehicle rear-ending a vehicle operated by 37 year old, Adara D Jenne, of Louisville while in the car wash. Jenne sustained injuries but refused treatment. No citations were issued.
January 1, 2018
- At 2:06am west of the intersection of Rickelman and Willenborg, a vehicle driven by 51 year old, William H Herr, of Effingham left the roadway and struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported. Herr was ticketed for driving while under the influence and improper lane usage.

- 32 year old, Jessica R Clark, of Georgetown was cited for possession of Methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
- 30 year old, Samuel W Wilson, of Newton was cited for possession of Methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of Methamphetamine, possession of a hypodermic needle/syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while license is suspended.

- 32 year old, Laurence J Thompson, of Mattoon was arrested for possession of Methamphetamine and obstructing a peace officer. Thompson was taken to the Coles County Safety and Detention Center.

- 26 year old, Forrest J Donaldson, of Charleston was arrested for forgery and possession of Methamphetamine. Donaldson was taken to the Coles County Safety and Detention Center.
