The Cubs used a big 5 run seventh to beat the Brewers 6-5.
The Brewers got on the board first with 2 runs in the first thanks to a PĂ©rez sacrifice fly and a Carter RBI single. The Brewers added 2 more runs on a Gennett RBI single in the fifth to make it 4-0. The Cubs got a run in the top of the sixth on a Zobrist RBI single to make it 4-1. The Cubs then had a 5 run fifth thanks to a La Stella RBI double, a Rizzo 3 run double, and a Zobrist RBI single making it 6-4. The Brewers added a run in the bottom of the ninth with a Nieuwenhuis solo home run.
Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester did not factor into the decision. Lester gave up 4 runs on 4 hits while striking out 7 and walking 5 over 4 innings. Nathan got the win in relief. Brewers starting pitcher Guerra did not factor into the decision. Guerra gave up 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 2 and walking 4 over 6 and 1/3 innings. Smith took the loss in relief.
The Cubs now begin a series with the White Sox tonight at 7:10.
