(Quincy, IL) — Governor Rauner is expected to visit a state veterans’ home in Quincy, a day after the state reported that two residents have developed new cases of Legionnaires’ disease. The Illinois Veterans Home got a five-million-dollar water treatment system overhaul last year, after an outbreak of Legionnaires’ led to 12 deaths and four-dozen non-fatal cases. The bacteria that cause the disease can be inhaled in water vapor, but the source of the new cases isn’t yet known.
