Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- From the Effingham Unit 40 Schools Facebook Page:
Welcome to Effingham Unit 40 Schools Mack Thompson!
After 13 years of coaching Robinson Boys Basketball, Mack Thompson becomes the new Athletic Director for the Effingham Flaming Hearts effective July 1st. On Wednesday, it was announced that Thompson will also become the new Boys Basketball Head Coach. He leaves Robinson as the program leader in coaching wins, a three time Regional Champion and two time Sweet 16 finalist in IHSA Boys Basketball.
“I would like to thank the Effingham Unit 40 Administration and Board of Education for having the faith in me to not only oversee their athletic department at EHS, but to also have the honor of being the new head boys basketball coach.
I will setup meetings in the next week or so with players/families to get expectations and summer schedules lined out. This first summer will be a growing experience for all of us as we learn a new system and a new way of doing things.
I will also be reaching out for individuals that would love to be a part of building the Effingham Hearts program from Kindergarten through 12th grades. We will be providing opportunities for youth basketball in the Unit 40 school district unlike any they have experienced before.
For our youth program, you don’t have to be the best basketball player or have the most knowledge of the game to lend your time as a coach. You’ve just got to love the chaos that comes with youth basketball. We will teach you the building blocks that we feel are important in growing/developing Future Hearts!!
Anyone interested in becoming an integral part of Effingham Hearts Basketball, please shoot me a message on Facebook Messenger or feel free to email me at thompsonm@unit40.org. I would love to discuss the vision I have for the future of the program!”
