Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Transportation Committee held their regular meeting Wednesday afternoon and discussed some issues with public transportation, and discussions with IDOT.
The Committee started by going over some issues with an IDOT Compliance Review, stating that IDOT is questioning multiple things in the review, with some of the things/processes in question being originally set up by IDOT. The Compliance review is expected to be complete by May 23rd. The Committee said they will continue to work out the details with IDOT where needed. E-Trax was also a discussion topic. The Committee mentioned that the service is working as intended.
The Committee also heard an update from Community Support Services. They were made aware that CSS may need another vehicle, and that there are a few more high school graduates set to join the program this year. An update was also provided for PCOM, detailing the need to update to keep up with new federal standards. They also had some procedural questions and requests to iron out. Norbert Soldtwedel, Chairman, also said he is thinking of getting local representatives involved in the discussion to see what the best path forward is to keep the same level of service to the community.
