GOLF
ST. ANTHONY GIRLS GOLF
The St. Anthony Girls Golf team took first place at the Windsor Invite. St. Anthony finished was a team score of 378. St. Anthony was led by McHugh who shot an 85. Effingham took second with a 385, followed by Windsor, Greenville, and Teutopolis.
TENNIS
CASEY-WESTFIELD DOUBLES
Teutopolis won the Casey-Westfield Doubles event over the weekend. Teutopolis had a team score of 117. Second place was Flora with 108, followed by Newton, Mt. Zion, Robinson, Casey, Charleston, and Paris. Teutopolis next plays tonight at Mattoon.
EFFINGHAM GIRLS TENNIS
Effingham Girls tennis competed at the Titan Invitational in Chatham over the weekend. The two Effingham singles competitors both lost in the first round and in the consolation round. The Effingham doubles teams lost their first round matches but won in the consolation rounds to each finish fifth.
CROSS COUNTRY
OLNEY CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL
The Olney Cross Country Invitational was held over the weekend. In the Girls Class Mattoon got the win with a team score of 63. Mt. Vernon finished second, followed by Breese Mater Dei, Salem, and Olney. Effingham finished sixth with a 134, Teutopolis finished eighth with a 209, Newton finished 14th with a 359, and North Clay finished 15th with a 460. Casey, Dieterich, and Altamont didn’t record team finishes as they didn’t have enough runners. Kate Bushue from Mt. Vernon was the fastest with a time of 20:32.9. Camoron Hough from Olney finished second, followed by Miranda Fox of Effingham, Bria Moore from Mt. Vernon, and Gillian Card from Mattoon. In the Boys Class Mattoon got the win with a team score of 86. Second place went to Princeton Community, followed by Lawrenceville, Olney, and Robinson. Salem finished eighth, Teutopolis finished 11th, Newton finished 12th, Casey finished 13th, Effingham finished 18th, Dieterich finished 17th, and North Clay finished 18th. Odin, Fairfield, and Altamont didn’t have enough runners to get a team score. Justin Niederhaus from Princeton was the fastest with a time of 16:57.8. Second was Mitchell Kremer from Mattoon, Hayden Wimberly of Salem, Michael Demeyer from Olney, and Grady Wilkinson from Mt. Carmel.
VOLLEYBALL
ST. ANTHONY VOLLEYBALL INVITE
St. Anthony hosted their Volleyball Invite over the weekend. St. Anthony finished 1-3 at the Invite. St. Anthony won their first game against Sullivan 25-0 and 25-9. St. Anthony lost to Tri-County 22-25 and 21-25. St. Anthony lost to Olney 21-25 and 22-25. Finally St. Anthony lost to Pana 21-25 and 26-28. In the third place game Tri-County beat Olney by scores of 25-22, 22-25, and 15-12. In the Championship game Shelbyville beat Newton in three sets 25-18, 18-25, and 16-14.
