The Cubs fell to the Rockies 7-6 in 11 innings.
The Cubs got on the board first with a Fowler solo home run in the top of the first. The Rockies answered back with a solo home run by Dahl in the bottom of the first to tie the game at one. The Cubs scored in the third on a RBI single by Rizzo. The Cubs added another run in the fifth on a RBI single by Bryant to make it 3-1. The Cubs got two more runs in the sixth on a Russell two run home run to make it 5-1. The Rockies scored in the seventh on a throwing error by Bryant to make it 5-2. The Rockies then scored three runs in the eighth on a LeMahieu double, González RBI groundout, and Arenado sacrifice fly to tie the game at 5. The Cubs took the lead in the top of the eleventh on a Fowler RBI single. The Rockies scored in the bottom of the eleventh on a Raburn RBI double. Raburn was able to score the winning run on a throwing error by Báez.
Neither starting pitcher got the decision. Rockies starter Anderson gave up 5 runs on 8 hits while striking out 8 and walking 1 over 7 innings. Carasiti got the win in relief. Cubs starter Hendricks gave up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 3 and walking 1 over 6 innings. Chapman took the loss in relief.
