Jim Lange, of Effingham, is heading to Utah for a weekend of speed runs and racing at the famous Bonneville Salt Flats.
He already holds the World Stock Racing Speed Record at 223.283 MPH in his twin-turbo Studebaker Avanti, which has garnished the nickname “Due Centro, The Next Generation.” The car got the nickname due to it’s resemblance to Andy Granatelli’s record breaking vehicle from 1963. That record was set at Bonneville in 2009.
This weekend Lange is trying for 250 MPH to break his own record on the Salt Flats.
