23-year-old Patrick McGuire, of Candenton, Missouri, was arrested on Tuesday outside of the Effingham Public Library after police found him to be the driver of stolen 1994 Red Ford Ranger.
According to Effingham County State’s Attorney Bryan Kibler, the Effingham Police Department had been informed of the description of the stolen vehicle as McGuire is a former Effingham resident and still has relations in the area. After spotting the vehicle, Effingham police found McGuire in the library and escorted him outside for questioning.
After confirming with Missouri authorities that the truck was stolen, McGuire was taken into custody with bond set at $15,000. In addition to being in possession of stolen vehicle, he is also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia for cannabis, and driving on a revoked licence. McGuire could be facing a felony charge pending a previous DUI incident.
