Illinois State Police District 12 Interim Commander, Lieutenant Cory Ristvedt, announced activity and enforcement figures for the month of June. Troopers from District 12, which includes Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Marion, and Richland Counties, answered 277 calls for service and initiated 1,874 incident in the field.
In addition, enforcement figures totaled 793 citations and 655 written warnings. These included 362 speeding citations, 11 DUIs, 120 seat belt citations, 4 child restraint citations, 205 written warnings for speeding, and 39 criminal arrests. Troopers also assisted 240 motorists, conducted 634 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 99 traffic crashes. There were also 4 fatal traffic crashes investigated by District 12 in June.
During the month, 486 citations were issued for “Fatal Four” violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to wear a Seat Belt, and Distracted Driving.
