The Cardinals took a loss against the Cubs Wednesday at home with a final score 9-8.
The Cardinals got on the board first with an RBI by Piscotty. The Cubs took a big lead in the second inning with Montero scoring on a RBI by Fowler. Heyward smacked a two run double. Heyward and Bryant scored on a Zobrist single giving the Cubs a 6-1 lead.
The Cardinals slowly came back with a home run by Grichuk in the 2nd to make the score 6-2. Adams and Grichuk had RBI’s in the 4th making it 6-4. Bryant however had a three run home run in the 6th to make it 9-4. Holiday homered in the 6th and Adams homered in the 7th making it 9-8. The Cardinals had a chance in the 9th the winning run on first with no outs, but couldn’t drive the run in.
The Cardinals Martinez got the loss, moving to 4-5 on the season. Jake Arrieta got the win moving to 9-0 on the season. The Cubs have now won 23 straight game in which Arrieta has started.
