Randal Grichuk was the hero of the night as it was his 2 out home run in the bottom of the ninth that won the game against the Cubs 4-3.
St. Louis jumped ahead 1-0 in the third thanks to a sacrifice fly by Aledmys Diaz. The Cubs came back with 2 runs in the fourth to take a 2-1 lead. An Anthony Rizzo single in the fifth scored Kris Bryant as the Cubs took a 3-1 lead. Matt Adams hit a pinch hit 2 run home run in the seventh to tie the game at 3. That led to the Randal Grichuk walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth.
Both starting pitchers got no decisions. John Lackey pitched 7 innings giving up 3 runs on 4 hits while striking out 9. Adam Wainwright pitched 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits. Wainwright stuck out 4 but also walked 3.
The win now make the Cardinals 6 back of the Cubs in the NL Central
