Neoga, IL-(Effingham Radio)- From the Neoga Fire Protection District Facebook page:
At 3:05 p.m. today, the Neoga Fire and Ambulance services and the Sigel Fire Department were dispatched to a reported structure fire.
Upon arrival, crews observed light smoke emanating from the building. Subsequent investigation determined that a pet had inadvertently activated a stove burner while attempting to reach an object on the stovetop. This caused a pan to overheat and a spatula to melt. Personnel successfully deactivated the burner and ventilated the premises. The only reported damage was a strong lingering odor of smoke throughout the residence.
The Neoga Police Department (IL) also provided on-site assistance. All units were cleared from the scene by 4:08 p.m.
