City Of Effingham Asking Residents To Review Property Tax Adjustment

Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Effective January 1, 2026, the City’s portion of the property tax bill for City of Effingham residents was largely eliminated by the City Council to provide property tax relief to the residents of the city. Only a nominal amount of tax levy remains on the City’s portion of the tax bill.  

 The Mayor and City Commissioners request that each property owner in the City review their tax bill to ensure that their property taxes have been adjusted to reflect this action by the City. If you have questions, please contact City Administrator Steve Miller at 217-342-5300 ext. 5314.
