Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Effingham County Board’s Administrative Committee covered several issues Monday, including opioid settlement funding and how it can support people seeking recovery. Sheriff Paul Kuhns said the need is growing, noting more people than ever want to break opioid addiction.
The committee also discussed efforts to discourage Kratom and HO2 use. Effingham city leaders have already acted, but county officials noted unincorporated areas and other communities remain separate challenges.
Tornado recovery was also raised after the June 17 storm. Board member Norbert Soltwedel, whose farm was badly hit, said displaced residents need housing options.
The committee also reviewed a $7,500 fair funding request, county salary recommendations, disaster grant matters, and election judge appointments.
