Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Effingham County Board members approved several items Monday, including a new employee health insurance incentive.
The plan offers eligible employees up to one-thousand dollars per month, along with a 25-hundred-dollar HSA contribution and full HRP coverage.
The Effingham County Board approved recognition of National 4-H Week, set for October 4th through 10th. Chairman Josh Douthit recognized Angie Moeller and 4-H’er Jackie Sparling.
The board also marked National Disability Employment Awareness Month, hearing from Community Support Systems’ Pete Niccum and client Ino Mapes, who shared that he had just started a job at Walmart.
In other action, board members approved $2K for the Chamber’s Trades, Skills and Manufacturing Day, $15K for Effingham Regional Growth Alliance dues, and $6,269 for Courthouse Museum parking lot work. Fire Chief Brant Yochum was reappointed to the Ambulance Oversight Committee.
The board also approved the acquisition of all tax certificates. County Treasurer Deb Ruholl said the action will still allow taxpayers to receive their money, but at a lower rate. She noted the board will need to take the action each year, giving the county an annual opportunity to decide whether to continue.
County Coroner Kim Rhodes reported the Illinois Department of Public Health has confirmed three human West Nile virus deaths statewide. One was connected to Effingham County, though Rhodes said the case originated in Shelby County.
Two solar hearings are scheduled for October 14th and 15th at 5 p.m. County Clerk Michelle Kollmann also reported early voting for the November election begins Thursday. Ruholl reminded residents that Friday, September 25th, is the deadline to pay at least the first installment of Effingham County property taxes to avoid a late penalty.
The board also recognized National 4-H Week, National Disability Day of Service, International Day of Service, and Chamber of Commerce Week, and approved a 25-thousand-dollar revolving loan fund disbursement to Jeanine and Jeff Heuerman for digital signage.
