
Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- After a couple rounds of storms brought several inches of rain to the area, Lake Sara is closed to all boat traffic due to high water levels. This comes from the Effingham Water Authority.
On Monday, April 27, at 12:53 PM the Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) discharged for 1.25 hours for a total flow of 0.437 million gallons (MG). It rained approximately 1.5 inches over 0.50 hours to cause this discharge. Total rainfall for the event was 3.25 inches.
There were reports of damage around Lake Sara. Tornadic activity was prevalent last night as the storms rolled through, prompting many tornado warnings and thunderstorm warnings. The National Weather Service reported a storm with tornadic capabilities went through Ramsey, and other areas of rotation were seen on radar in Fayette and Effingham County.
No injuries have been reported, and the damage locally was minimal.
