Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The City of Effingham would like to congratulate Officer David Myers of the Effingham Police Department on being awarded Employee of the Quarter as a part of the City’s Employee Recognition Program. The Employee of the Quarter Award recognizes an employee who demonstrated either distinguished or extraordinary service during the fiscal quarter or other accomplishments that typically go unnoticed but are worthy of recognition.
Officer Myers was nominated for going above and beyond his call of duty on a recent shift. Office Myers observed a fire in a multi-occupant apartment building and took immediate action. He alerted dispatch to send the Fire Department, attempted to use a fire extinguisher to put out the fire and began clearing the apartments. Officer Myers made forcible entry into the apartment that was directly over the fire to help a woman and young child to safety. These actions taken by Officer Myers showed quick decision-making skills, courage and effective teamwork with fellow officers. Because of his valor, no injury came to either the woman or child, in addition to the rest of the complex.
Officer Myers went above and beyond the call of duty and deserves to be recognized for his quick, selfless actions which undoubtedly saved both life and property.
The City appreciates your continued participation in our Employee Recognition Program. If you notice a City employee going above and beyond to serve you,
