Effingham County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12:
WHAT:
- Two Vehicle Personal Injury Traffic Crash
WHERE:
- Interstate 57 northbound near milepost 152, Effingham County
WHEN:
- July 25, 2022 at approximately 4:30 a.m.
VEHICLES:
- Unit 1- 2020 Black Isuzu Truck
- Unit 2- 2018 White Toyota SUV
DRIVERS:
- Unit 1- Ebrahim Sarhan, 52-year-old male from Houston, TX
- Unit 2- Luz Davila, 63-year-old female from Chicago, IL – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
PASSENGER:
- Unit 2- Hector Davila, 67-year-old male from Chicago, IL – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
PRELIMINARY:
- A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 and Unit 2 were both traveling north on Interstate 57 near milepost 152 in the right lane. The driver of Unit 1 failed to reduce speed and struck the rear of Unit 2. Unit 2 then left the roadway to the right and overturned several times before coming to rest in the right ditch. Unit 1 crossed the left lane and came to rest in the median. Unit 2 driver and passenger were both transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Unit 1 driver reported no injuries on scene.
CHARGES:
- The driver of Unit 1 was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
- The driver of Unit 2 was cited for Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
