WHAT: Two Vehicle Personal Injury Traffic Crash
WHERE: Interstate 57 southbound at milepost 131, Marion County
WHEN: July 13, 2022 at approximately 2:06 p.m.
VEHICLE: Unit 1- 2020 Blue Ford Ambulance
Unit 2- 2010 White Ford Edge
DRIVERS: Unit 1- Matthew D. Dyer, 37-year-old male from Monticello, IL
Unit 2- Darren S. Eaves, 55-year-old male from Powderly, KY – Transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
PASSENGER: Unit 1- Jonathan M. McCain, 24-year-old male from Atlanta, IL
PRELIMINARY: A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 2 was stalled in the left-hand lane of traffic on Interstate 57 southbound near milepost 131. Unit 1 was traveling southbound in the right-hand lane behind a semi. Unit 1 attempted to pass the semi in the left-hand lane and struck Unit 2.
CHARGES: The driver of Unit 2 was issued a citation for Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
