ISP Fatal Traffic Crash In Shelby County

Shelby County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by the Illinois State Police District 10:

WHAT:

• Pedestrian Fatal Traffic Crash

WHERE:

• Illinois Route 128 at Main Street, Shelbyville, Shelby County

WHEN:

• July 1, 2022 at approximately 1:52 p.m.

PEDESTRIAN:         

• Shannon D. Watkins, 58-year-old female from Shelbyville, IL – Deceased

VEHICLE:                

• Unit 2 – 2020 White International truck-tractor semi-trailer combination

DRIVER:                   

• Unit 2 – Michael L. Snow, 53-year-old male from Charleston, IL

PRELIMINARY:    

•  A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 2 was stopped at the intersection of Illinois Route 128 and Main Street in Shelbyville. Unit 2 then proceeded to make a right-hand turn.  The pedestrian was in a wheel chair and entered the roadway.  The trailer of Unit 2 struck the pedestrian.  The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased.  The driver of Unit 2 reported no injuries on scene.  No further information is available at this time.
