ISP Traffic Crash In Fayette County

Fayette County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12:

WHAT:

• Two Vehicle Personal Injury Traffic Crash

WHERE:                   

• Interstate 70 eastbound near milepost 58, Fayette County

WHEN:

• June 5, 2022 at approximately 6:50 p.m.

VEHICLES:             

•  Unit 1- 2013 White Freightliner Truck-Tractor Semi-Trailer Combination
• Unit 2- 2003 Blue Harley Davidson Motorcycle

DRIVERS:                 

• Unit 1- Robert Heun, 60-year-old male from San Tan Valley, AZ
• Unit 2- Michael Lawrence, 35-year-old male from O’Fallon, IL – Transported by private vehicle to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

PRELIMINARY:     

• A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 near milepost 58 in Fayette County. Unit 2 was traveling westbound at the same location. Unit 1 suffered a blowout to the front driver side steer tire causing the driver to lose control. Unit 1 crossed the center median and both westbound lanes. Unit 1 continued through a ditch and onto US 40. The driver of Unit 2 took evasive action to avoid Unit 1 and Unit 2 was laid over on its side. The driver of Unit 2 was transported by private vehicle to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of Unit 1 reported no injuries on scene.
