Edgar County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by the Illinois State Police District 10:
WHAT:
- Three Vehicle Fatal Traffic Crash
WHERE:
- Illinois 133 at 1200 North, Edgar County
WHEN:
- Feb. 10, 2022 at approximately 9:00 a.m.
VEHICLES:
- Unit 1- 2018 White Ford SUV
- Unit 2- 2015 White Kenworth Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer Combination
- Unit 3- 2015 Red Freightliner Truck-Tractor Semi-Trailer Combination
DRIVERS:
- Unit 1- 52-year-old male from Evansville, IN – Deceased
- Unit 2- Andrew Shepard. 31-year-old male from Charleston, IL
- Unit 3- Dennis Grindley, 79-year-old male from Urbana, IL
PASSENGER:
- Unit 1- 33-year-old male from Evansville, IN – Deceased
PRELIMINARY:
- A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling east behind Unit 3 on Illinois 133 near 1200 North in Edgar County. Unit 2 was traveling west on Illinois 133 at the same location. The driver of Unit 1 attempted to pass Unit 3 and side-swiped Unit 2. Unit 1 then struck the trailer being pulled by Unit 3. The driver and passenger of Unit 1 were pronounced deceased on-scene by the Edgar County Coroner. The names of the deceased will be release by the Edgar County Coroner pending next of kin notifications. The drivers of Unit 2 and Unit 3 reported no injuries on scene. The roadway was during the crash investigation and was re-opened at approximately 4:30 p.m. This crash is still under investigation and no further information is available.
