WHAT:
- Three Vehicle Traffic Crash with Injuries
WHERE:
- Illinois Route 37 at Tonti Road, Salem, Marion County
WHEN:
- Jan. 3, 2022 at approximately 3:18 p.m.
VEHICLES:
- Unit 1 – Red 2004 Ford F150 Pickup
- Unit 2 – Silver 1997 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup
- Unit 3 – White/Blue 2022 Kenworth Truck Tractor
DRIVERS:
- Unit 1 – Austin D. Lange, 18-year-old male from Edgewood, IL – No injuries
- Unit 2 – Charles B. Wilson, 60-year-old male from Teutopolis, IL – Transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
- Unit 3 – Stephen A. Getz, 29-year-old male from Eureka, IL – No injuries
PRELIMINARY:
- Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling southbound on Illinois Route 37 in Marion County. At the intersection of Tonti Road, Unit 1 struck the rear of Unit 2, pushing Unit 2 into Unit 3. Unit 2 had been stopped behind Unit 3 while Unit 3 was stopped while waiting to turn left.
CHARGES:
- The driver of Unit 1 was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
