On Monday the Lady Indians of Altamont traveled to Louisville to take on the North Clay Lady Cardinals and were sent home with a frustrating 46-39 loss.
North Clay had the one point edge on the scoreboard after the opening quarter. It was a balanced attack from Matia Price and Kristen Allen both with four, Alexis VanDyke and Miah Ballard hitting three pointers. Grace Nelson had eight of the Lady Indians 13 in the first quarter.
North Clay would take advantage of Nelson being in foul trouble as VanDyke and Allen would hit a pair of threes to help the Lady Cardinals outscore Altamont 11-6 to take a 25-19 lead into the locker room.
Altamont came out of the locker room with some fire and ended up taking the lead at one point. Then Nelson would pick a fourth foul and that would send her to the bench for quite awhile. North Clay would end up coming back and leading by three after three.
Altamont had its chances in the final quarter and had possession with less than a minute to go and down by 3. Altamont had a chance to tie the game unfortunately the Lady Indians turned the ball over and Nelson would end up fouling out. Ballard would close it out shooting free throws including a couple with her left hand because it seemed she could no longer use her injured right arm. Making the final score 46-39.
North Clay improves to 2-5 on the season and 1-3 in the NTC
Altamont falls to 6-5 and 2-2 in the NTC
