MATTOON, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The following has been released by the Mattoon Police Department:
November 20, 2018
- Mattoon Police arrested Trenton C.D. McGee, 29 years of age of Charleston, IL, for the offenses of Forgery and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. The arrest occurred on 11/20/2018 at 1:15pm at the Coles County Jail, where Mr. McGee was being housed for other incidents. The Forgery charge stems from 09/07/18, when police were notified of checks having been stolen from a residence in the 2900 block of Oak Ave in Mattoon. The forgery charge alleges the checks were stolen by, and forged at a bank in Charleston, IL by Mr. McGee. The Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle charge stems from a 11/19/2018 incident, when police were notified of a vehicle having been stolen from the 1400 block of Broadway Ave in Mattoon. Mr. McGee was allegedly later found to be in the stolen vehicle on 11/20/18, when officers from the Charleston Police Department arrested him for other offenses. Mr. McGee was left in the Coles County Jail.
November 23, 2018
- Mattoon Police arrested Gunner L. Gottman, 23 years of age of Mattoon, for an active Coles County warrant. The arrest occurred on 11/23/2018 at 1:30am in the 600 block of Marion Ave in Mattoon. The warrant was for a probation violation on a 2018 Possession of Methamphetamine case. Mr. Gottman was taken to the Coles County Jail.
November 25, 2018
- Mattoon Police arrested Blake A. Hampton, 23 years of age of Mattoon, for the offenses of Possession of Methamphetamine and Obstructing Justice. The arrest occurred on 11/25/2018 at 7:55am in the 600 block of Richmond Ave in Mattoon. The charges allege that on 11/25/2018, police stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Richmond after having witnessed wanted person Bake Hampton inside the vehicle. Mr. Hampton was wanted out of Coles County, and had provided police with a false name the day prior when they had made contact with him. During the stop, Mr. Hampton was also allegedly found to be in possession of Methamphetamine. Mr. Hampton was taken to the Coles County Jail.
- Mattoon Police arrested Eliezar I. Chavez, 20 years of age of Mattoon, for the offenses of Aggravated Battery, and Driving While License Suspended. The arrest occurred on 11/25/2018 at 3am at the Mattoon Police Department. The charges allege that on 11/25/18, police responded to a vehicle accident at 12th and Prairie Ave in Mattoon, where a van was flipped onto its side. Police arrived on scene, and were advised Mr. Chavez had purposely rammed the van that was on its side with his own motor vehicle, causing minor injury to both subjects in the van. It was alleged that Mr. Chavez was chasing two male subjects who had just earlier drove away from him in the van, after they got into a verbal altercation with him at the BP Gas station located at 12th and Charleston in Mattoon. Mr. Chavez was also found to have been driving with a suspended driver’s license and without insurance. Mr. Chavez was taken to the Coles County Jail.
