High School Cross Country
- Area boy and girls teams competed at the Class 1A Decatur St. Teresa Sectional on Saturday. The Teutopolis Girls finished in 5th place as a team and will advance to State as the top five teams qualify for State. Other teams who finished but did not qualify Shelbyville finished in 9th, Neoga 11th, Newton 12th, Robinson 13th, St. Anthony 14th, Cumberland 17th and Altamont 20th.
Runners for Teutopolis were Morgan Mette finished 23rd with a time of 19:32, Jessica Runde finished 24th in 19:32, Rebecca Habing 34th in 19:57, Kaitlyn Schumacher 37th in 20:01, Abby Bloemer 76th in 21:31, Katie Kingery 109th in 22:43 and Kylie Hoelscher who finished 142nd in 25:01.
Tolono Unity won the sectional with a 47.
Newton’s Abby Stone who finished 9th with a time of 18:47. Ailey Mitchell and Gabrielle Spain from Shelbyville who finished third and fourth in 18:03 and 18:13. All qualified for State as individuals
In the boys meet Cumberland advanced as a team with a 5th place. Other teams finishing but failing to qualify St. Anthony 9th, Teutopolis 11th, Shelbyville 13th, Neoga 14th, CHBC 17th and Altamont 19th. Runners for Cumberland Kort McClellan finished in 14th with a 16:10, Blake Sutherland finished in 37th with a 16:44, Rayce Zike 54th in 17:05, Michael Carpenter 55th in 17:06, Logan Edwards 73rd in 17:25, Wiley Peters 117th in 18:27 and Joel Heynen 142nd in 19:54.
Winning the boys sectional was Monticello with a 62
Individuals who qualified were Cort Ross (Casey-Westfield) 4th in 15:33, Reece Johnson of Neoga finished 9th in 15:53 and Noah Probst of Teutopolis finished 11th in 15:56.
Junior High Girls Basketball
- Brownstown/St. Elmo won the 8th Grade NTC tournament on Saturday with a 25-22 victroy over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City. Scoring for BSE Beall had 8, Stine had 7, Myers with 3, Sasse, Baldridge, and McWhorter all had 2 points and Whitehead had 1. Scoring for CHBC Heckert had 13 points, Stuckemeyer had 4, Dye and Thompson both had 2 and Wojcik had 1.

North Clay took 3rd Place with a 28-21 win against Altamont. Scoring for North Clay Czyzonski had 9 points, Ballard had 9, Hollkenbrick had 5, Conley 3 and Ethridge had 2. Scoring for Altamont Nelson scored 9, Becker 6, Tedrick 5, and Miller with 1.

Sigel St. Michael won the consolation championship 36-35 over South Central. Scoring for St. Michael Niebrugge had 22 points, Bueker had 11 and Hotze had 3. Scoring for South Central Arnold had 12 points, Garrett also had 12, Webster had 4, Lewis had 3 and Michael and Cowger both had 2.

On Friday South Central defeated Stew-Stras-Windsor 35-24. Scoring for South Central Garrett had 12 points, Arnold had 10, Lewis had 7, Webster had 4 and Cowger had 2. Scoring for SS/W Richards had 6 points, Wernsing had 6, Vonderhedide had 4, Kinkelaar had 3, Weeden had 3 and Mathis had 2.
