BROWNSTOWN, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Three people were injured in a two vehicle accident that occurred four miles north of Brownstown on Tuesday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred at 4:31pm on the Brownstown Blacktop.
The report states that a vehicle driven by 32 year old, Joshua M Lawrence, of St Elmo was traveling eastbound on CR 2000N at the intersection with CR 1600E.
The Lawrence vehicle failed to yield at a stop sign and pulled out in front of a vehicle driven by 66 year old, Robert C Stonecipher, of Brownstown.
The Stonecipher vehicle struck the front driver’s side of the Lawrence vehicle.
The Lawrence vehicle came to a rest in the roadway south of the intersection and the Stonecipher vehicle came to a rest in the ditch to the east of CR 1600E.
Lawrence’s passenger, 53 year old, Edward E Willis, of St Elmo was ejected from the vehicle and was flown to St Johns Hospital in Springfield by Arch Helicopter.
Lawrence was flown to Barnes Hospital in St Louis by Arch Helicopter and Stonecipher’s passenger, 66 year old, Debra J Stonecipher, of Brownstown was taken to Fayette County Hospital by Abbott Ambulance.
Lawrence was cited for failure to wear a seatbelt, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and failure to yield at a stop sign and Willis was cited for failure to wear a seatbelt.
