VANDALIA, IL-(Effingham Radio)- A 23 year old, Shobonier man was killed in a four-wheeler accident that occurred southwest of Vandalia on Saturday morning.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred at 12:05am at the intersection of Fayette County Roads 1150N and 1225N.
The report states that a four-wheeler driven by Billy Joe Tate Jr, of Shobonier was traveling northwest on CR 1150N when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned.
The vehicle came to a rest and pinned Tate and his passenger, 19 year old, Macye T Sarchet, of Vandalia to a tree.
Witnesses pulled the four-wheeler off of Tate and Sarchet, called 911, and began CPR.
Tate was taken to Fayette County Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Sarchet was also taken to Fayette County Hospital where she was airlifted to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis.
