EFFINGHAM, IL -(Effingham Radio)- A Clay City man was found dead after a single vehicle accident near Louisville.
First responders were called to U.S. 45 ½ mile north of Hickory Hill Road (3 miles south
of Louisville), and upon arrival found a vehicle overturned near a roadway.
According to released details from Illinois State Police (ISP), William J. Viehmeyer, 67, of Clay City was traveling north with passenger Randall R. Helms Jr, 43, of Louisville, IL.
While attempting to pass another vehicle, Viehmeyer lost control of the vehicle, and traveled off the roadway before overturning multiple times; both were ejected from the vehicle.
Upon arrival first responders pronounced Viehmeyer dead at the scene.
Helms was airlifted from the scene to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
At this time U.S. 45 was closed, and travelers were rerouted for 4 hours.
