TEUTOPOLIS, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Teutopolis Board of Education made personnel moves at their meeting on Monday, April 16th.
During the meeting, the Board accepted resignations.
Mike Walker resigned as the Fresh/Soph Boys Basketball Coach, Toni Hawley resigned the THS Library Aide, and Jason Hanson resigned as the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach.
The Board then approved a one-year leave of absence for Junior High Softball Coach Brittany Meyer in regards to the birth of her baby this summer.
They then hired Heidi Kinkelaar as a TGS Teacher, and decided to advertise for open positions.
These are High School Science Teacher, High School Health/Driver Education/Physical Education Teacher, High School Varsity Boys Basketball Coach, High School Fresh/Soph Boys Basketball Coach, and High School Girls Track Coach.
Additionally, the Board discussed school safety measures and announced that a donation from Randy Meyer has enabled TGS to order a camera and buzz-in system, and TJHS and THS to order panic buttons.
Additional items discussed and acted on by the Board include:
- Approved dates for summer basketball camps: girls May 22-25 from 8am to 2pm and boys June 4-8 from 8am to 1pm.
- Heard report from teachers and representatives of EIASE about a step program that will be tried next year at THS. This gives some students a better opportunity to prepare for life after high school.
- Approved seeking quotes to reseal the THS asphalt parking lot and oil/chip the THS student parking lot.
- Discussed survey results regarding the THS facility and the next steps.
