Effingham, Ill. – We received reports of a fire that struck 506 Monroe around 1:45 a.m. in Charleston.
The location more commonly known as Mother’s Bar, has apartments above the business.
According to WTHI, “Two residents had to be rescued off the roof and three others had to be rescued from inside the building.”
“But, because of heavy smoke and dangerous conditions, firefighters had to evacuate the building and continue working from the outside.”
WTHI continued on adding that 8 people have been left without homes, and are currently being assisted by the American Red Cross.
There were no reported injuries, or arrests, and the Incident is currently under investigation.
