Two people were injured in an accident that occurred in Effingham on Wednesday.
According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred at 10:55am on Bourgeois Drive at North Tunnel Road in Effingham. The report stated that a vehicle being driven by 20 year old, Justice A Self, of Effingham was traveling southbound on Bourgeois Drive. Self then drove into the gravel on the left side of the roadway, lost control of the vehicle, skidded off of the roadway into a cable guard rail and overturned. The vehicle came to a rest on its top on the right side of the roadway. Self was taken to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Self’s passenger, 21 year old, Kesi A Jones, of Manassas, Virginia was flown from the scene of the accident to St Louis University Hospital.
Self was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, texting while driving, improper lane usage, and no valid driver’s license.
