(Springfield, IL) — Even after months of tension, Illinois’ legislative leaders say they’re willing to trust each other. The state’s top lawmakers ended a meeting yesterday in Springfield on a high note. House Republican leader Jim Durkin said he and Democratic leaders are “down to the minutiae” in talks over how to pay for schools in the state. Senate Republican leader Bill Brady said they plan to meet again today and that only technical issues remain unsettled.
